Considering a Career in the Visual Arts?

It's never too soon (or too late) to consider an art career! Contrary to popular belief, you can make an extremely good living in the visual arts field.
We recommend that students begin putting together their post-secondary portfolios in their grade eleven year, in consultation with one (or more) of their art teachers. That's because post-secondary schools that require portfolios will begin considering applicants as soon as December of your grade twelve year (at Portfolio Day) and no later than spring of your grade twelve year.
If you have a particular school in mind, make sure that you understand and are ready to meet their unique portfolio requirements well ahead of the due date for your application.
If you are currently in grade eleven, start on that portfolio immediately!
If you are in grade twelve, and it suddently comes to you that art is your passion, and you want to study at a post-secondary level, do not hesitate to talk to one of your art teachers immediately about your options!
If you decide only in grade twelve that you would like to study art at a post-secondary level, again, please talk to one of your art teachers right away for your options!
We continue to update this page, so if you can't find what you are looking for, or, if you have any questions, please talk to any of your art teachers, your counsellor, or visit the career centre on the second floor of the school.
