​Gleneagle offers many unique and specialty programs of choice for students to explore during their high school years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ACE-IT: Culinary Arts Program provides students the unique opportunity for secondary students to earn graduation credits and industry certification in “Culinary - Cook Level 1 Technical Training”. It enables participating students to acquire the job-ready skills required to enter the industry, or to pursue further training in this area of specialization. There are many opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry for students. The course provides education and training in the fundamentals of food preparation including safety and sanitation, equipment operation and basic food service skills. Students who complete both the theory and practical components of the program will write the “Professional Cook 1” certification exam. ACE-IT: Hairdressing Program is an in-school training program offering students a unique opportunity for secondary students to earn graduation credits and post-secondary industry certification in Hairdressing. It enables students to acquire the job-ready skills required to enter the industry, or to pursue further training in this area of specialization. The COAST Program is a life-changing, outdoor education experience for Grade 10 students. We aim to help students in learning about themselves and to develop enduring positive character traits. By exploring the natural world through the lens of academics, individual and group leadership, environmental ethics, and outdoor skill development students develop a stronger sense of balance and respect for themselves, and for the world. Upon leaving the program, students can expect to have learned the value of making informed responsible decisions, initiating action, and taking personal responsibility for who they become. JumpstA​RT

is a thematic program integrating Humanities (English 9 & Social Studies 9) and the Fine Arts where students are given the chance to think outside, inside,
and around the box JumpstART may be right for you if you are a student who:

 

  • Is always drawing, doodling, and thinking visually?
  • Wants to find connections between English, Social Studies, and Visual Arts?
  • Is interested in big ideas like freedom, identity, and independence?
  • Is looking to express your learning in a variety of ways?
  • Contributes to group projects and discussions?

T.A.L.O.N.S. - The Academy of Learning for Outstanding Notable Students is the only program of its kind in the Coquitlam School District #43, specifically designed for gifted learners in grades 9 to 12, focusing on the Autonomous Learner Model. It addresses the unique needs of gifted learners by offering English 9-10, social studies 9-10, math 9-11, science 9-10, biology 11, chemistry 11, independent directed studies (IDS) 10-12 and philosophy 12  in an enriched, honours, accelerated and telescoped way.  Learners can also apply for outdoor leadership 10-12.  See brochure for further clarification. Application to this program is only available for identified gifted learners living in District #43 and currently attending grade 8. An online application package will be e-mailed to eligible grade 8 students in middle schools approximately mid-December 2017.
