Latest Updates (October 2016)
- Victoria Park parcel – In 2016, this 0.8 acre parcel was transferred to the City of Coquitlam in exchange for a parcel of land that is now a part of the property for the new elementary school on Burke Mountain (Smiling Creek Elementary School).
- Parkland parcel – In 2015, 1.3 acres of the north portion of this property was sold to Dulex Building Corporation for $2,711,000 million dollars.
- 133 Balmoral Drive (Coronation Park) – In 2015, this 8.3 acre property was sold to Polygon Pacific Homes for $25,155,555.
- The proceeds from the sales listed above went into SD43's Local Capital and Restricted Capital accounts for the district. These monies are being utilized for several projects in the district including the Blakeburn Elementary and Glen Elementary additions as well towards the new Smiling Creek Elementary School.
- Moody Elementary – Moody Elementary is rated as a high risk seismic school. The Board of Education has endorsed selling the property and contributing funds towards a new Moody Elementary to be built on the Moody Middle site. The School District continues to work with the Ministry of Education to seek endorsement for this project.

Overview
Education is one of the most valuable things we can give our children. Ensuring we use our assets in the most effective way possible to support a positive learning environment is the goal of the Learning, Land and Neighbourhoods initiative.
From October 29, 2013 through to January 14, 2014, the Board of Education is leading conversation on four properties under consideration listed below . The board is committed to involving students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff and the community in developing solutions and supporting decisions about the future of these properties.
At the Jan. 14, 2014 meeting of the Board of Education the following motions were made and carried by the Board in regards to the Learning, Land and Neighbourhoods Community Engagement initiative:

A portion of Parkland Elementary – motion to continue with the sale of the portion of land was made and carried

A portion of Victoria Park – motion to continue to work with the City of Coquitlam to reach an agreement was made and carried

Coronation Park – motion to move forward with disposition of Coronation with sale parameters for community benefit was made and carried

Moody Elementary – motion to rebuild Moody Elementary on the Moody Middle site was made and carried. A second motion to sell or develop existing Moody Elementary site was made and carried.
