Dear Members of the Coast Salish Community:
As I mentioned last week, I was able to visit our new school and saw that the inside of the building is progressing well. Most of the areas that will be utilized for partial occupancy have flooring installed, heating units in, walls being painted and drop ceilings being completed. Exterior work, such as roofing and siding are also coming along well. Some supply chain and trade issues are still being encountered by the Contractor. Our district personnel are in regular meetings with the Contractor about the status of these items and the need to complete the work as quickly as possible. Latest scheduling information from the Contractor now anticipates us having partial occupancy early in 2023. (November 2022)

SD43 Board of Education advanced funds for the Project Development Report and initial stages of design to help expedite the process.
School address: 3538 Sheffield Avenue. It is a 6 acre site; sponsored Crown land grant; and OCP and Zoning is in place as part of Wesbild development application.
At the June 6, 2017 SD43 Regular Public Board Meeting, the Board of Education moved to approve advancing funds to engage an architect to begin the design process for the "Sheffield" Elementary School prior to receiving funding approval from the Ministry for a new school.
