Education Assistants
I've been with the district for 22 years, I've loved the challenges that every day brings and the connections I've made with so many students and staff. Over the years I've enjoyed the opportunity to grow and now as an EA Lead Hand to both support and share my experiences and knowledge with new and experienced staff of SD43. Valerie
One of the best things about working for SD43 as an EA are all the different opportunities available to me. I have been fortunate enough to work at many of the schools in the district as a casual EA. This has allowed me to meet many of our amazing students and staff. I have also worked as a full time EA in different locations and really enjoyed being part of a permanent staff as well. Recently I've embarked on a new adventure and joined our district's Inclusion Support Team. No matter what position I've held with SD43, I have always felt very well supported. It's a great district to work for! Sarah
I have been an EA in SD43 for 15 years. Although each day brings new challenges, it also brings many rewards in the form of successes with all the students you will work with. Every day presents many opportunities for you and your students to grow; you will be teaching each other daily. Karen
I have enjoyed working as an Educational Assistant with SD43 for 17 years. I have had the opportunity to work with many different students with a wide range of abilities. I love being able to help children overcome difficulties they face with academics and social situations. It is rewarding to be a part of a child's school routine and to help them reach their full potential. Laura
Teachers
Upon graduating from Centennial Secondary School in 1997 I felt a great debt of gratitude to all the teachers and coaches who had helped me through my K-12 education. Little did I know at the time that in under 10 years I would be working at the same school, with those same mentors, assistant coaching the same basketball team at the Provincial Basketball Tournament that was the highlight of my time in SD43. I had truly come full circle, how could I want to work anywhere else? This September, I will send my oldest daughter out the door to her first day of Kindergarten, a nerve racking experience for some, but not when she is being sent to this school district. Ryan
This district's focus on technological programs and attention to a wide range of other programs was a big draw for me to choose to teach in Coquitlam. The diversity of the population and being closer to nature while still near the city was also an important factor. I started my career here and am hoping for many more great years in SD43. Vinay
I applied to teach in Coquitlam right after completing my teacher training at UBC and I'm incredibly happy that I did. The middle school system is what keeps me here though, I enjoy the energy of the 6, 7, 8 grade groups which is something unique to this district. It allows for collaboration with colleagues which is encouraged by both the district and its administrators. This ability to work with colleagues through professional development opportunities and release time has allowed us to get ahead of curriculum changes, try new instructional practices and truly feel part of a team. Having those supports in place is one of the many reasons that Coquitlam is an awesome place to work. Jeff
