Introduction

On this webpage, you’ll learn more about the initiative and the properties under consideration for creative solutions on their future uses. Some properties have been considered in the past and we are building on what we have already heard. Review the Board of Education’s guiding principles for making decisions, and then get involved in determining the best way forward for these properties.

The best approach for you to contribute to this process is to first learn about the process, how SD43 manages capital projects, and past and present projects. Read the information below to become well informed.

Overview

Education is one of the most valuable things we can give our children. Ensuring we use our assets in the most effective way possible to support a positive learning environment is the goal of the Learning, Land and Neighbourhoods initiative.

From October 29, 2013 through to January 14, 2014, the Board of Education is leading conversation on four properties under consideration listed below . The board is committed to involving  students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff and the community in developing solutions and supporting decisions about the future of these properties.

At the Jan. 14, 2014 meeting of the Board of Education the following motions were made and carried by the Board in regards to the Learning, Land and Neighbourhoods Community Engagement initiative:

  • A portion of Parkland Elementary – motion to continue with the sale of the portion of land was made and carried
  • A portion of Victoria Park – motion to continue to work with the City of Coquitlam to reach an agreement was made and carried
