The New School Calendar Regulation
Section 87.01 (7) of the School Act requires consultation on school calendars and the Regulation sets out the parameters for that consultation. A board must make public a proposed school calendar one month before submitting it to the ministry. During the consultation period, a board must provide parents and board employees the opportunity to comment on the proposed calendar.
The district is currently running a calendar survey to receive feedback about the proposed 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 calendars. Parents, students, employees of SD43 and the public can provide feedback about the proposed calendars. The 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 calendar survey will run from Friday, May 6, 2016 to Friday, May 20, 2016.
On March 11, 2014, the Board of Education approved three calendars for the school years 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. On November 17, 2015, the Board of Education approved the amendment to 2015-2016 calendar to accommodate the addition of two Ministry mandated curriculum implementation days. On January 12, 2016, the Board of Education also approved the amendment of 2016-2017 calendar to accommodate the addition of one Ministry mandated curriculum implementation day. The 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 calendars have been approved by the Ministry. Please note that school calendars are subject to change. If a change in calendar is required, it will be done according to the calendar amendment process.
