Award: $3,000 (various number of awards)

Description

Each of the refugee awards is awarded to a refugee who has shown courage and determination while adapting to a new language and new culture in Canada. Each refugee award is valued at $3,000.

Each of the TCF refugee awards is awarded to an applicant who meets the following criteria.

  1. Entered Canada as a refugee
  2. Completed Grade 12 at a secondary school in British Columbia OR has completed high school equivalency, for example the GED.
  3. Studied English language [EL] in British Columbia or elsewhere in Canada. A transcript is required documenting successful completion of a minimum of one English language course.
    • Applicants who are secondary [high school] students are required to submit a mark transcript documenting completion of a minimum of one English language course in British Columbia or Canada.
    • Applicants who are not secondary students are required to submit documentation showing successful completion of a minimum of one English language course completed in British Columbia or Canada.
    • Please note that preference will be given to applicants who studied the English language [EL] in British Columbia.
  4. Wishes to study in a vocational or academic program at a post-secondary institution in British Columbia
  5. Has documented school and/or community volunteer service.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for the refugee awards is January 31st of each year. Successful applicants will be notified within six weeks of the application deadline

This bursary is intended for a youth who has lost a parent or guardian. One bursary will be awarded yearly in June in the amount of $500 or more.

In order to be considered for the Rose Family Bursary you must be a British Columbia Grade 12 student or be currently studying at an accredited post-secondary institution, up to the age of 21.

Applicants must provide evidence of registration with an accredited post secondary institution for 2024.

Identification of financial need will be considered.

Every year, up to 60 scholarships of $2,500 are available to children of B.C. Public Service employees.

Eligibility

You're eligible to apply if:

  • You have a solid academic standing (minimum B grade average or above for high school, Grades 10 to 12, and any post-secondary education)
  • You're a student under the age of 25 as of the application deadline shown above
  • You haven't received a scholarship from Pacific Leaders Scholarships for Children of Public Servants previously. You can receive only one scholarship during your lifetime
  • You'll be a full-time student and have at least one parent, as defined by StudentAidBC policy, who is a full- or part-time regular employee of a BC Public Service employer. This includes all ministries and any organization that is enabled under the Public Service Act
  • Your parent has worked in the BC Public Service for the last three years as of the application deadline shown above
  • You plan to study a trade or do technical/vocational training or an undergraduate degree at a designated school or university located in B.C.

Several $1,000 scholarships available

One scholarship is available to this year’s graduating secondary school students planning to enroll in a post-secondary educational institution for the first time in 2024.  To be eligible for this scholarship candidates must 

1) be of Italian origin i.e. as having at least one parent or grandparent of direct Italian descent, 

2) be living in a city or municipality within the 21-member Greater Vancouver Regional District, 

3) have an academic standing sufficient to qualify for entry into the post-secondary institution of their choice, and 

4) submit a completed application form with supporting documentation post-marked or delivered no later than June 15, 2024.

Grace Family Network Foundation has established a scholarship fund to award to deserving high school graduates in financial need. The awards are intended to encourage students who are pursuing a post-secondary education and who have demonstrated not only academic achievement but also interest in their communities.

Application criteria include:​
  • A resident of Metro Vancouver (applicable municipalities)
  • Currently registered in Grade 12
  • students with outstanding academic and leadership achievements demonstrating financial need
  • Evidence of enrolment or application to a post-secondary school in the 2024-2025 academic year
  • ​A one page essay on "What experience has shaped your values?" (see application form for more details)

​CALL FOR TWO-YEARS SCHOLARSHIPS SUPPORTING EXCELLENT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, ENROLLING IN A BACHELOR OR A MASTER DEGREE PROGRAM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF INSUBRIA FOR A.Y. 2024/25


Item 1: Description and objectives
In order to enhance the internationalization process, the University of Insubria will
be offering up to twenty (20) two-years scholarships to talented prospective
international students (UE or non UE) wishing to enroll in a Bachelor or a Master
degree program (either taught in Italian or English language) during the academic
year 2024-2025. Successful students will be expected to act as ambassadors of the
University of Insubria and to represent the University at a number of events.
Item 2: International students
International Students are those who reside outside Italy at the time of the
application and have attained (or are going to attain) their secondary school diploma
or university qualification outside Italy.

​Rick and Amanda Hansen believe that people of all abilities should have the right to a barrier-free education. The Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship for Youth with Disabilities, funded generously by the April 1 Foundation, provides financial support to Canadian youth with disabilities to pursue post-secondary education and realize their full potential.

This scholarship aims to make a profound impact on the lives of Canadian youth with disabilities by removing financial barriers and supporting career aspirations through post-secondary education.

Funding of up to $10,000 per year (up to a maximum of $40,000) is available for youth with disabilities looking to complete a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program at a publicly funded institution in Canada.  

Eligibility Criteria

  • Person with a disability, defined as functional limitation – whether permanent or episodic – which affects the student's ability to participate in post-secondary education;
  • Under the age of 30 years as of the application deadline (May 31, 2024);
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Eligible for domestic tuition at a publicly funded post-secondary institution or training program at a public university, college or institute in Canada;
  • Enrolling full-time in the 2024/25 academic year for a 1- to 4-year post-secondary program at a publicly funded post-secondary institution in Canada; and
  • Not receiving other financial awards that total more than $2,500 per year (excluding student loans). 
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring that any funding received from the Rick & Amanda Hansen Scholarship will not negatively affect the status of any benefits and subsidies that they are eligible for. 

Application Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate alignment with Rick & Amanda Hansen’s values of perseverance, inclusivity and being a Difference Maker;
  • Clarity of career goals and alignment with the chosen academic program;
  • Ability to successfully complete the chosen academic program; and
  • Financial necessity of scholarship.

We are pleased to announce that the application for the 2025 Undergraduate Scholarship offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is now open. This scholarship is intended for students who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree at a Japanese university.

 

The scholarship covers:

1. Full tuition

2. Monthly allowance

3. Round-trip flight between Japan and Canada

 

The Undergraduate Scholarship is aimed at high school graduates, born on or after April 2, 2000 (for the 2025 scholarship year). The term of the scholarship is 5 years, beginning in April 2025 (including one year of Japanese language training).

Applicants who successfully pass the written application screening are required to undertake an interview and examinations (as outlined in the application guidelines). Candidate interviews and examinations will be held in June or July on a date determined by the Consulate General of Japan. Interviews and examinations must be conducted in-person at the Consulate General of Japan's offices in downtown Vancouver.

​This invitation is addressed to all Tri-City Secondary School students to submit their creative designs to the Golden Spike Days Festival office. ​

The winning T-shirt illustration will be printed on the front of all the 500 T-shirts that volunteers will wear during the 2024 Golden Spike Days Festival.

Both the student producing the winning illustration and the school they are attending will be
monetarily rewarded through an Arts Bursary offered by our organization (see enclosed
application form).
