Social Studies

While our world may feel like it's getting bigger, there is now access to more support and resources that can help you to be successful in all aspects of Social Studies.

The Social Studies curricula covers a wide range of topics, yet it essentially covers four principles:

  • The historical, political, economic, social, cultural and environmental factors which have shaped and continue to shape Canada and Canadians.
  • The roles, rights and responsibilities of an individual as a member of society.
  • The diverse patterns of human activity in the world.
  • The need to develop a willingness and ability to use knowledge and understanding and, as a member of society, to think critically and make reasoned judgments.
