Music

The Music Department at Gleneagle offers a variety of ways for students to be involved in music. Band and Choir classes are performance-based courses giving students the opportunity to work as a team. Performance opportunities include school concerts, district events, music festivals and concerts in our community. Students will also have the opportunity to travel with the music department. In the past, students have travelled to Calgary, Disneyland, San Francisco, New York City and Cuba. Gleneagle music students are also usually involved in the production of a compilation CD of the year’s work.

This year, we have made a commitment to integrating technology in the music classroom, both as a means to inform and improve class rehearsals and performances, as well as to share the exemplary exploits of the performing arts.

Unlike other areas of the school such as the academic courses, athletics, and the visual arts, the beauty and power of many musical performances is fleeting. It is here, then gone. It is our hope that through digital means, we might connect with our audiences, near and far, and record our efforts for posterity.

This year, as our Music Department embarks on new adventures, musical odysseys, and a brave new world of possibilities, we invite you to subscribe to the department's blog Music at Gleneagle, on Twitter or our Flickr photostream.
