Program Services

IST - ASD is a consultative team of professionals who strive to empower schools in developing the tools and knowledge required to better support students with disabilities in school settings.

IST- ASD  will provide support services for students in the following categories:

• A – Physically Dependent with Multiple Needs
• C – Moderate or Profound Intellectual Disabilities
• G – Autism

Types of Programming

While the nature of support will vary, depending on the individual needs of the student and the school team, IST - ASD is available to provide the following array of services:

• consultative services for a limited period of time
• assistance with program design
• assistance with assessment of student needs
• support with IEP development
• training of school support team (Teacher, SEA, Administrator)
• assistance in development and implementation of visual supports, reinforcers, sensory materials,
• break time activities and materials, instructional materials
• direct instruction
• support with referrals for District Services
• support with managing involvement of outside agencies

In-Service Opportunities

IST - ASD can provide an array of in-service opportunities at the request of schools. In-service may be general or student specific and may include the following topics:

• Visual Supports
• Discrete Trial Training
• Sensory Programs
• Positive Behaviour Support
• Functional Assessment
• Instructional Strategies (Chaining, Task Analysis, Fading Prompts, Literacy and Numeracy Skills, etc.)
• Developing Individual Education Plans (IEP)
• Working with Outside Agencies
• Picture Exchange Communication System
• Using Boardmaker and/or Writing With Symbols
• Social Skills Training

1. Contact your Zone Coordinator or contact one of the IST - ASD Consultants directly.
