Bonjour! The Core French classes at Riverside use the Communi-Quête program for Grades 9-11 and Français Interactif for Grade 12. All students have cahiers (workbooks) that can be borrowed or puchased for each unit. At all grade levels, we use audio and video resources as well as the Internet to provide students with authentic listening and reading opportunities. Students in Grade 12 have the opportunity to write the international DELF exam in order to obtain the Diplôme d'études en langue française.
Above all, we want our students to enjoy the French language and all francophone cultures as much as we do! There is a French film club that screens feature length films each week and students are encouraged to speak en français in class as much as possible. Mme Price and Mme Bancroft are available to help students at lunch and after school -- and some senior French Immersion students can also provide assistance as peer tutors.
One of Canada's official languages, and an official language of the Olympic Games, the European Union and the United Nations, French is spoken around the world from France and Switzerland to Tahiti, Quebec and Senegal. It is the language of diplomacy, cuisine and romantics! Make a rendez-vous if you'd like a little tête-à-tête to do a bit of reconaissance vis-à-vis your son or daughter -- we will be enchantées to meet you!
