As BC Hydro addresses a high number of outages across the Lower Mainland, it is unlikely power will be restored at the school sites experiencing outages today (Wednesday). While schools remain OPEN, classes are CANCELLED. Students will be supervised at sites, as needed, but regular instruction will not be provided. 


It is expected that power will be restored and all schools will be open and operational tomorrow (Thursday, December 18).

​On Thursday between 3:00 and 3:05, the SD43 website will appear only show a test page for inclement weather notification. The test page will appear for about 5 minutes before normal service returns.

T​he district has been provided with guidance and resources from Fraser Health and the medical officer, which has been shared with district administrators. The air quality index is being monitored at the district level and appropriate actions are being communicated to our administrators based on our regional readings. Actions may include limiting outdoor activities and/or outdoor time, as well as monitoring vulnerable students that may have underlying health concerns.

2024 11 12 Letter to Superintendents - H5 Avian Influenza (Final).pdf

Out of an abundance of caution, Fraser Health has sent school districts in the region a letter about the teenager who has tested presumptively positive for avian influenza. Please see the letter attached for more information. We encourage everyone to practice the preventative measures suggested, including:

  • Stay up to date on all immunizations, especially the seasonal flu vaccine
  • Do not touch sick or dead animals
  • Stay home if you are sick

​Telus has informed us that the telephone service to the school was disrupted Wednesday due to a power failure Tuesday night. Unfortunately, we will be with limited service until Monday May 27th. Please email riverside@sd43.bc.ca for alternate communication.

SD43 uses a random draw process. The application requires the student Personal Education Number (PEN) (can be obtained from your child's school or report card). PEN/ student number is not required for students starting in Kindergarten in September 2022.

Are you new to the area? Recently moved?  Contact your local school to register your child. 

Please do not visit schools - access to school buildings is restricted. ​

New student registration is available at local schools. 

  1. ​Please use our School Locator tool to determine your catchment/ neighbourhood school. Simply type in your street name.
  2. Once you have determined your catchment school, prepare the required documentation such as Proof of Citizenship for parent and child, Proof of BC residency and Proof of Guardianship. A complete list can be found on our Student Registration Information.
  3. Contact the school directly to obtain an electronic registration package and more information on how to submit important registration documents.​ Links to school websites and contact information here​.

The first day of classes for school year 2020-2021 is September 10, 2020.
