EYA Community Nursery Internship (PAID)
The Environmental Youth Alliance is now accepting applications for the spring Community Nursery Internship for youth between 14 and 18 years old.
Learn everything you need to know to grow your own food! Get hands on experience working in an organic vegetable garden and community orchard, helping to maintain two greenhouses, and growing thousands of vegetable plants for under-served communities in East Vancouver. In addition, meet like-minded youth from around Vancouver while earning $225 for your time, and community service hours towards graduation.
Apprentices will be expected to dedicate 6 hours of time per week for 12 weeks beginning the week of March 31st and ending June 18th. We will spend 2 days a week together: 2 hours on Tuesdays from 4-6 PM, and 4 hours on Sundays from 10 AM-2 PM. Upon completion of the 12 week program, apprentices will receive a certificate and reference from the Environmental Youth Alliance, along with a cheque for $225.

SD43 Community Schools are seeking volunteers for our 6
week Summer Day Camps running from July 2nd to August 9th. The camp hours are
from 8:45 am – 3:00 pm. The day camps are located in Port Coquitlam.
Camp activities include indoor and outdoor games and
activities such as science, arts and crafts and cooking. There are weekly field
trips to swimming pools, Port Coquitlam Rec Centre and parks.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience working
with children ages 6-12. The volunteers will gain valuable skills such as
teamwork, leadership, managing groups children and organization. Volunteer
hours can be used towards your Community Connections or if you heading to a
program in college/ university that requires volunteer hours for completion
entry/completion of program. Volunteers will also be provided with reference
letters.
