Show Us Your Skills Video Contest - $5500 in Cash & Apple Products to Be Won

Hello BC students, educators and parents,

Discover Trades BC is an organization committed to increasing awareness and interest in trades among British Columbia’s high-school students. Ultimately, we hope more BC students will consider a career in the trades and that more teachers will introduce trades to students in the classroom. Recent BC Labour Market statistics indicate that by 2020 there will be one million job openings in BC and nearly half of those jobs will require trades and technical skills. Encouraging students to pursue a career in trades now will help fill these job openings in the future.

To heighten awareness about trades in British Columbia, Discover Trades BC is launching the “Show Us Your Skills" Video Contest. Students have a chance to win Apple products and schools can win cash to support trades and technology education. The 1st place winner's school wins $2k, 2nd place winner's school wins $1k and the 3rd place winner's school wins $500. Full details and rules available here.

Educators, we hope you will get behind this program and encourage students in your Planning 10, home economics, shop classes and home rooms to enter the contest. A great way to do this is to show the short video to your class.

Please feel free to share this e-mail with other students, educators and parents in BC using the "forward" button in the upper right corner of this e-mail. If you can promote via Facebook and Twitter that would be terrific.

Thank you in advance for your help getting the word out about the "Show Us Your Skills" video contest.

Sincerely,

Kelly Betts
