Co-Students & Grads
We’re committed to helping exceptional people realize their potential. We have a strong commitment to our future employees, which is why we invest in training that builds skills both personally and professionally. We’re looking for people who are adaptable and eager to learn.

Apprenticeships involve on-the-job and classroom training. Upon completion, our apprentices are ready to work in many areas.

The Trades Trainee program is a two year temporary opportunity to explore the Powerline Technician trade.  This program allows you to develop line skills so that you are equipped to apply on an apprenticeship.

The Engineers-in-Training Program is a program aimed at providing you with valuable work experience that will work towards achieving your Professional Engineering Designation. During the two year program, you will be exposed to rotation and training opportunities that will enhance your understanding of BC Hydro and the engineering field. These opportunities will in turn develop your professional and technical skills and expand your network.

Graduate Technologist-in-Training is a structured career development program designed to provide the hands-on skills required to become a fully qualified technologist in Customer Projects, Engineering, Transmission Maintenance or Apparatus.

Youth Hires Program is an opportunity for students interested in exploring different trades, technical careers and hands-on work. The Youth Hires Program provides summer employment in the trades and technical occupations to students who are making the transition from school to work.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant
As part of Canada's Economic Action Plan, the federal government made a commitment to encourage skilled trades and apprenticeships by investing in the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG), which complements the existing Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG). Registered apprentices who have completed their training and become a certified journeyperson in a designated Red Seal trade and who obtain either the Red Seal endorsement or a provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification can apply for the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG), which is a taxable cash grant of $2,000.

It is estimated that approximately 20,000 apprentices, who complete their apprenticeship program and become certified in a designated Red Seal trade, will be eligible for the ACG each year.

Find out if you are eligible for the ACG, how to apply, and what the deadline is.  You must go to the website for details.
