​The Southside Family of Schools in Port Coquitlam are teaming up for their annual "We Scare Hunger" campaign, previously known as "Halloween for Hunger," to collect non-perishable food items for the Tri-City SHARE Food Bank.

The Southside Family of Schools is comprised of École Riverside Secondary, Citadel Middle, École Pitt River Middle, Central Elementary, Castle Park Elementary, Hazel Trembath Elementary, École Kilmer Elementary, and École Mary Hill Elementary.

The program will see the elementary schools involved encourage food bank donations at their schools by holding events, while students from the middle and secondary schools involved will go door-to-door on Halloween night asking for food donations in place of candy.

Members of the public should keep an eye out for flyers that will be distributed during Halloween week and be on the lookout for students who may come on Halloween night to collect food donations.

The ultimate goal of the schools involved is to alleviate the problem of hunger in their community and to make a difference in peoples’ lives.
