Dear SD43 families,
As the 2022–2023 school year draws to a close, I wish to thank all the families that SD43 serves. I am grateful for the support our parents and guardians have given to our district leadership, principals, vice principals, teachers, and support staff.
I am happy to recognize our students' achievements throughout the academic year. In the Superintendent's News and Events report at public board meetings, on our district website and on SD43 social media channels, we have shared highlights from the year. June is an exciting time as we look forward to summer and celebrate with events such as leaving and commencement ceremonies.
Looking back over this year, we have reached several milestones including:
- Three school communities celebrated anniversaries: Mundy Road Elementary, 75 years; Bramblewood Elementary, 25 years; and Gleneagle Secondary, 25 years; Pinetree Secondary, 25 years.
- Students completed their first full school year within the newly replaced École Irvine Elementary School.
- Coast Salish Elementary operated inside the new Irvine building this year and we look forward to welcoming students to their new school building in the fall.
- Building permits for the seismic replacement of Moody Elementary have been received and the project is out for tender. Once the tender is awarded, construction can begin.
- Occupancy of the Centennial Secondary Physical and Health Education facilities has been accomplished.
Our district is well known to be high-achieving and this is reflected in our students and in our staff. I can assure you that we will continue to provide your children with a world class education - through the fulfillment of our Directions 2025 strategic plan - to ensure that they become confident, independent, and successful educated citizens of the world.
Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2023! I look forward to welcoming our incoming Kindergarten, new and returning students and their families after a restful summer break on Tuesday, September 5th.
