To: All Parents/Guardians of School District 43
I wish to thank you for all your understanding, patience and cooperation as we continue to take measured action in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Health Officer and the Fraser Health Authority to ensure our actions are consistent and aligned to avoid unnecessary confusion or further stress.
Additionally, we are in daily communication with our municipal partners to ensure our responses and actions are also aligned. Late last week, we closed our school play structures and now, working jointly with our municipal partners, we have closed our sports courts and fields to the public. These closures are in an effort to reduce large gatherings of individuals and to help support social distancing as has been strongly recommended by the Provincial Health Officer and Fraser Health. This is a serious matter and SD43 is doing what it can to prevent the spread of this virus. However, as we are unable to enforce these measures, we are relying on individuals to comply in order to protect public health and the children in our community.
Previously, we discontinued all rentals of all school district facilities until further notice and we have limited the ability of the general public to access our school facilities. Childcare providers will retain their access where still operational.
We all have a shared responsibility and must all make a sacrifice in assisting and supporting our medical community and first responders. Please ensure you are practicing social distancing with anyone that is not in your household as we all work to keep our families safe.
A 'Frequently Asked Questions' page has been set up at www.sd43.bc.ca/FAQ in order to address as many common questions as possible. Further questions may be submitted via that page as well.
Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation.
