Carbon Monoxide detectors are
being installed in school district facilities. Coquitlam School District is
taking proactive measures to increase safety and reduce the risk of carbon
monoxide exposure to students and staff. Carbon Monoxide is an odourless and
colourless gas that can be toxic and dangerous to humans.
Monitoring
will begin as soon as ordered units are received and installed by district
maintenance staff. Ivano Cecchini, Executive Director, Facilities and Planning
Services, addressed the Board of Education at their regular meeting January 15,
2019 to outline the plan. Board Chair Barb Hobson commented, “The Board
appreciates the efforts of Mr. Cecchini and district staff on this project. Keeping
students and staff safe by proactively installing this equipment is a positive
step forward for the District”.
