(September 13, 2016) - The Board of Education of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) is proud to unveil Directions 2020, a strategic vision to guide the district. It is the fulfilment of the Learning Without Boundaries strategic framework created by the school district through consultation with and feedback from several thousand stakeholders and will anchor the decisions that are made each and every day at the school district.
"The development of the Directions 2020 vision would not have been possible without the support and engagement of our many stakeholders," said Judy Shirra, Chair of the SD43 Board of Education. "This vision will allow us to fulfill our mission and goals and provide direction for future plans; prioritize and articulate our annual priorities and allocation of resources; as well as effectively communicate our results to allow for reflection, feedback and ongoing enhancement."
Directions 2020 was developed through a process that involved over 4,000 individuals through numerous stakeholder engagement and feedback activities including Ministry direction, public board and budget meetings, and consultations with partner groups such as the Coquitlam Principals' and Vice-Principals' Association (CPVPA), Coquitlam Teachers Association (CTA), CUPE Local 561, and the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC).
"The operation of this school district is more effective with a clear vision, purpose and goals that are aligned and integrated through all areas of the organization," said Patricia Gartland, Superintendent of Schools. "We are confident this vision will guide our achievements over the coming years."
Directions 2020 will be disseminated to all administrators, teachers, support staff, partner groups, students, parents and community members, and action items will be developed and implemented by SD43 operational areas that lead to the achievement of the goals and objectives.
