MOVE4MANA is a student-led initiative that began at Heritage Woods Secondary School in 2017 and inspired Riverside Secondary to launch their first MOVE4MANA challenge on World Hunger Day in 2019. Students and staff were encouraged to download the Active for Good app and track their physical activity. Calories burned were converted into Ready-To-Use-Therapeutic-Food packets that were distributed to malnourished children in Somalia. It takes three packets of RUTF per day for 4-6 weeks to save a child's life! Last year, the Riverside community saved the lives of 527 malnourished children in Somalia!
This year, students have put together a COVID safe campaign, inviting friends and family of the Riverside community to join the challenge and help save even more lives!

What is MANA and RUTF packets?
Mothered Administered Nutritive Aid (MANA) is a brand of Ready-To-Use-Therapeutic Food (RUTF); a peanut paste that provides essential nutrients to children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition.
The Food for Famine Society purchases the shipping containers for the RUTF, MANA Nutrition produces the RUTF packets, and World Vision Canada sponsors the transport of RUTF containers and distributes the MANA to Somalia.
Move4Mana is more than just saving lives, it's making a local and global impact. This year Riverside Secondary School goal is to save 550 lives.
