For the first time, the Kwikwetlem First Nation and School District No. 43 have entered into a significant agreement with the signing of The Local Education Agreement. The Local Education Agreement (LEA) provides a significant opportunity for the Kwikwetlem First Nation and the Board of Education to focus attention on improving educational outcomes for First Nations Students by developing the relationship necessary to accomplish that mutual goal.
The signing of the LEA between the School District and the Kwikwetlem First Nation signifies a mutual commitment of the two parties and acknowledges the important role of schools to build positive, effective, collaborative and constructive relationships to improve the First Nation's success in graduation rates, transition to post-secondary education and training or employment.
