On Monday, November 19 at 9:30am students and employees said goodbye to their old school and in a ceremonial walk-over said hello to their new school.
Led by Principal Bill Trask, Vice-principal Genevieve McMahon and their teachers, students gathered their books, backpacks and locker contents and walked the short distance to their new school next door during a beautiful sunny morning.
Board Chair Barb Hobson together with Trustees Carol Cahoon and Michael Thomas joined the walk and celebrated with students as they entered the school.
There was great energy in the new school as the students excitedly found their lockers and loaded them with their belongings and then found the new class rooms they will call home for the remainder of the school year.
The new state-of-the-art school accommodates 550 students in grades 6-8, offers a 600 square metre gym, combined library and computer space, a multi-purpose room, and special education spaces.
Updates on an official opening event will be forthcoming.
