Many students made the most of their time off this summer by attending Summer
Learning courses. SD43’s 2018 Summer Learning program was a huge success with
over 6,700 course registrations for grades 1-12 courses offered at 8 elementary,
3 middle, and 2 secondary school sites.
Sunny days full of engaging learning were sprinkled with
schoolwide events and fundraising initiatives. Innovative new courses
included middle school guitar, secondary technology education and secondary
band programs. This year’s community fundraising focused on SHARE Society (food
items and cash donations), donations of used sporting equipment to Kidsport,
and donations to PADS.
Partnership with the City of Coquitlam and City of Port
Moody Parks and Recreation departments led to increased numbers of afternoon
camps being available to summer elementary and middle school students.
Congratulations to all of the students in our Summer Learning
Program. We’re so proud of all of their progress and can’t wait to see what
they accomplish this year and beyond!
Thanks to the 350 teachers, Educational Assistants, clerical
staff, and administrators who created a wonderful summer learning experience
for so many SD43 students. Much appreciation to our district’s Trustees,
District Leadership, Learning Services, Human Resources, Payroll, Maintenance,
and Information Services employees for their expertise and support.
