The rain didn't dampen the excitement and enthusiasm of the athletes at
the first annual SD43 Track Meet for Adapted Sport on Friday, June 8th at Heritage Woods Secondary School. Contributions from community groups, school district employees, parents and the student-athletes made certain the event was filled with great energy and lots of fun.
In all
130 students registered from 19 schools in Elementary, Middle and Secondary categories. Students participated in six weeks of training coached by Canadian Olympian and SFU track star Ruky Abdulai leading up to the event.
Trustees Carol Cahoon and Barb Hobson were in attendance cheering on the athletes as well members of District Leadership Team, city councillors, parents, school employees and members of the community.
