Many SD43 schools celebrate Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival. This year's Lunar New Year of the Dog officially begins on Friday, February 16. Celebrations last for seven days.
Students at Terry Fox Secondary School received blessings from a traditional Chinese Lion Dance. During the dance, performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume to bring good luck. The dance was accompanied by drums as well.
