Terry continues to inspire SD43 schools to run and raise money for cancer research. Thanks to all of our participating students, staff and parents.
On Friday, October 6, 105 students from five elementary schools participated in a very special event called
Running Terry's Money Home.
Participants ran 12.4 km in total from Seaview Elementary in Port Moody to the Terry Fox Foundation in Port Coquitlam. Along the way they made stops at Miller Park, Parkland, Hillcrest and Riverview Park (where they were joined by students from RC MacDonald) to collect money and additional participants before making their final stop and presenting a cheque for $15, 581.54 to Terry Fox's niece, Kirsten Fox.
This run was especially important to Mason Jones who was running in memory of his aunt who passed away from cancer. Mason, from Seaview Elementary also managed to raise the most money by one student: $725.00!
Special thanks to all who participated and helped support and make this a successful event including the school communities, the Port Moody Police Department, the Coquitlam/Port Coqutilam RCMP, and the Terry Fox Foundation.
