Panorama Heights Elementary School celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special event held at the school on Thursday, April 13.
Among the attendees included SD43 Board Chair Kerri Palmer Isaak, Vice Chair Carol Cahoon, Trustees Barb Hobson and Michael Thomas, SD43 Superintendent Patricia Gartland, SD43 Assistant Superintendent Reno Ciolfi, School Principal Wendy Yu, and Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart along with other present and former administrators, teachers, staff and students.
During the event, Ms. Isaak spoke glowingly about the school’s commitment to the local community and charitable endeavours including its annual Hoops for Hope basketball tournament that raises funds for the Crossroads Hospice memory albums project – a cause the school adopted in memory of two former teachers. She also spoke about the school’s innovative practices over the years, mentioning how the school was among the first in the district to bring in pedal desks as one such example.
Ms. Gartland reflected on the changes in Eagle Ridge / Westwood Plateau area that have taken place over the last quarter decade and how Panorama Heights has played a major role in helping shape the community. She also gave recognition and thanks to those teachers, administrators and staff who have demonstrated hard work, passion, dedication and commitment to helping students succeed at Panorama Heights for the past 25 years.
