The Board of Education is an elected body of school trustees from Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.
What do we do?We govern the Coquitlam School District by following policies outlined in the Mandate for the School System, which give us oversight on important matters that affect the public education system within Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. We establish expectations for results (such as student success), fiscal responsibility and operational performance. We also liaise with stakeholders and engage in proactive community relations. Why are we here?It is our responsibility to monitor progress and performance of the Coquitlam School Board against our stated expectations. In addition, we help guide important decisions that will benefit children and communities. Our role in the budget process is to listen to staff, consult with stakeholders, and provide decisions on how to most effectively manage our resources to create a long-term stable and sustainable financial position to ensure quality education in our school district.
