Community Partners and Service Providers

​​​Access Youth​ - Provides community outreach alongside targeted programming including a Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) open to youth ages 12-23 offering 1:1 support but not intended as a long-term resource. 

This program can help youth learn to manage: anxiety/depression, relationships, life skills, substance abuse/misuse, peer pressure, school concerns, mentorship, trauma.​

​​ACT – Autism Community Training - Autism Community Training is an information and referral service that supports individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families across British Columbia. We also welcome calls from community professionals.

Anxiety BC - AnxietyBC™ provides a rich resource of self-help information and programs, as well as resources for parents and caregivers. Our mission is to increase awareness, promote education and improve access to programs that work.

ASTRA (Pacific Coast Resource Society) - Supports youth with a primary focus on ages 13-18 who consent to receiving support to change their relationship with alcohol and/or drugs.

Autism Society Canada

BC211 - Launched in June 2025 and a partnership between United Way and the Government of BC, this resource is a comprehensive search tool where you can learn about the array or resources in your area. They also provide a navigation service from 9am-9pm on weekdays: call, email or live chat.

Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver - An organization offering a range of mentoring programs, including 1:1.

British Columbia Association for Community Living - The BC Association for Community Living (BCACL) is a federation working with partners to build community and to enhance the lives of children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and their families by supporting abilities, promoting action and advancing rights, responsibilities and social justice.

Child & Youth Mental Health Intake Clinic​ - No-referral required drop-in clinic located at #303-3003 St. John's St, Port Moody. While youth are strongly encouraged to attend with a parent and present their Care Card, youth 13+ may attend without a parent. Open Tuesday and Thursdays 9-3:30 (closed for lunch noon to 1:00), Phone 236-468-2373

Community Living BC - CLBC delivers supports and services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families in British Columbia.  CLBC is working to create communities where people with developmental disabilities have more choices about how they live, work and contribute.

Community Volunteer Connections - CVC supports organizations by promoting the best practices in management throughout our communities.

Family Smart - Family Smart accepts referrals from educators supporting parents looking for peer support. With family consent, a referral can be submitted for parents who are looking for support for their child, youth or young adult’s mental health. Referral form: https://familysmart.ca/refer-people/​ ​

Family Support Institute - FSI was created to strengthen families faced with the extraordinary circumstances that come with having a family member who has a disability.  This mandate has now been expanded to include all disabilities regardless of age, as well as participation of families from cultural and ethnic minorities.  Support can be provided by workshops, networking and up-to-date information on services, current practices, and educational options to assist families in making well-informed decisions.

First Nations Health Authority - Access to counselling and mental health supports to First Nations are provided through a partnership between Indigenous Services Canada. Assisting families with enrolment in a free plan is the first step. There is a list of counsellors​ (mental health providers) available that names eligible counsellors in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody.

Gifted Canada - This site aims to provide a forum for Canadian researchers, educators, organizations and families to share information concerning gifted education, research and resources across Canada.

Gifted Children’s Association Coquitlam (Fast Brain Kids)

Indigenous Child & Youth Mental Health - A culturally informed resource supporting indigenous children and families seeking support for mental health and well-being. Goal of the resource is to make accessing mental health support as easy as possible. Provides outreach support (See ICYMH Outreach Workers) and in-office counselling with an individualized focus. Also includes Elder support.

​ICYMH Outreach Workers - ICYMH Outreach workers link Indigenous children, youth, and their families to needed services. Their focus is to establish relationships and to explore alongside clients' access to services. Criteria:

  • Indigenous ancestry
  • Open to exploring services
  • Concerns linked to mild to severe mental illness or poor emotional wellness
  • May need an outreach approach
  • Interested in culturally informed mental health support

Mental Health​ supports

Ministry of Child and Family Development (Children and Youth with Special Needs) - funds a range of programs and services for children and youth with special needs and their families.  Services and supports are intended to promote children’s healthy development, maximize quality of life, assist families in their role as primary caregivers and support full participation in community life.

PLEA Community Services - Located in Port Coquitlam, PLEA offers a range of supports. Those accessible without Ministry referral are:

  • Kidstart - 1:1 mentoring program for youth ages 6-12 (13+ requires Ministry referral)
  • Generation -Out - Free support group, ages 13-18 for your exploring gender and sexuality
  • TransSupport - Free support sessions for transgender youth
  • Onyx - Free support service, ages 13-18 for youth at risk of sexual exploitation
  • Children of the Street - Prevention workshops offered in grades 4-12

Polaris – Employment Services - The mission of POLARIS Employment Services Society is to assist persons with a developmental disability to find and keep quality employment opportunities.

SHARE General Counselling Services​ - Clinical counselling services on a sliding fee scale are provided in-person or virtually. Clients themselves can call the Intake Team at 604-540-9161, Ext 230. Support is provided to families with children ages 0-18 who are living in the home. A variety of languages are spoken by clinicians.

SHARE Youth Substance Use Supports - Referrals can be made by the youth themselves, a parent/caregiver or a supportive adult in the youth’s life (with permission from the youth). Call Intake at 604-937-6969 or email intake@sharesociety.ca.

SHARE Family & Community Services - is a non- profit, independent, community-based organization providing leadership and programs in response to the social needs of the residents of the Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra), New Westminster and adjacent communities.

SHARE is an important district partner providing a vast array of services to the community. From counselling to housing programs and food security options and more, SHARE is a rich resource for school-based referrals. Please consult the link above for a full description of services to the community. The link below highlights programs and services for children ages 0-6 and children/youth ages 6-19:

Simon Fraser Society for Community Living - SFSCL provides a range of services to citizens within the community to support healthy development, inclusion and full participation of all people. Services range from those for infants to school age children and youth to adults and seniors. We provide early intervention and family support services for children and youth who are at risk for or who experience a developmental delay or disability and leisure, volunteer, supported employment and housing supports for adults with developmental disabilities.

Special Olympics BC - Participants are welcomed from a wide range of ages, backgrounds, interests and levels of ability, and all have the opportunity to practice and compete year-round in the 18 sports offered by Special Olympics BC.

Spirit of the Children Society​ - Works to empower and strengthen Indigenous families by providing support and resources. Youth Hub is located on Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam. Referrals to a range of programming done in collaboration with family. Wide range of support services for children, youth, and families including housing program for ages 16-24.

START (Short-Term Assessment Response Treatment)​ - A mental health and substance use crisis is potentially being experienced when there is a rapid onset or change (in the last 2-4 weeks) of mental health and substance use symptoms, resulting in the youth being unable to participate in their daily activities or relationships. This may include suicidal thoughts or attempts, self-harming, intense anxiety or depression or high risk of significantly harming others, an inability to stop abusing substances, continued use despite health issues, increased tolerance (e.g. need to use more to have same effect), risk taking, overdose(s) or withdrawal symptoms.

Tri Cities Mental Health - Mental health centres provide many services including adult community support, adult short-term assessment and treatment, community residential programs, geriatric programs, crisis intervention, day and outpatient programs, addictions counselling, concurrent disorders services, group therapy, peer support and after-hours mental health support.
