SD43 Students Participate in BC Braille Challenge

On February 19, two SD43 students, Molly Duval from Meadowbrook Elementary and John Choi from Como Lake Middle, participated in the fourth annual BC Braille Challenge. Students were tested on reading and writing skills such as spelling, proofreading, reading, and speed and accuracy.

Seventeen blind and visually impaired students from eleven school districts gathered at UBC to participate in various reading and writing challenges, spend time with other blind and visually impaired students, celebrate braille, and of course, have fun!

The Braille Challenge is a reading and writing competition for blind and visually impaired students from grade 1 to 12 held throughout North America.  The top 10 students in each age category compete in the finals in June in Los Angeles at the Braille Institute of America.
