Dear SD43 middle and secondary families,
Thank you for your continued support of the children in SD43 and their safety at school. The protocols in place have kept community spread of COVID-19 to a minimum and allowed children to continue their education with their peers and under the guidance of their teachers.
As vaccination initiatives continue around BC, across Canada and around the world, we are gradually seeing declines in COVID-19 cases and deaths in many regions. As such, the Provincial Health Officer has now invited children aged 12-17 to register for their vaccinations on the www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca website. Each individual child will need to register in order to be eligible for a vaccination, though vaccination centres may make blocks of time available for families to visit together during one appointment time. The PHO is hopeful to have the vaccination of children aged 12-17 completed by the end of June 2021. More information will be available over the coming weeks and updates will be provided as needed.
As we near the end of the 2020-2021 school year, we are starting to see light at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic tunnel. School District 43 remains committed to the safety of all students and staff and we will to follow all safety protocols in the coming weeks. Again, thank you for your efforts in continuing daily health checks, promoting hand hygiene, and distancing measures. Together we will persevere and successfully and safely complete the school year.
