Roy Stibbs School has been awarded $1000.00 as the winner of the B.C. Region Green Schools, Green Futures Award Program sponsored by TreeCanada and FedEx Express Canada.

The judges considered environmental efforts
and contributions in five areas:

Ecological School Yards
Reducing Waste
Conserving Energy
Being a Caring School
Eco Education

From over 100 schools submitting applications, Roy Stibbs Elementary was selected as the ‘Greenest School’ in the B.C. region.
We are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish both through individual and group efforts at the school. We have learned that each of us can be involved at a personal level such as by recycling or in packing a litterless lunch. Many of us have also discovered that working on environmental initiatives in groups can be both fun and rewarding. Examples of groups working at the school include: the Garden Club [grades 4-5], the Green Team [grades 2-5], recycling teams [grade 2-3], tree planting teams [K-5], tote-box gardening teams [K-5], ‘Legacy’ project teams [grade 5], the Environmental Committee [staff] and others.¬
