On May 24th, two Grade 9 students from École Riverside Secondary School were awarded first and second place in the 2022 National Immersion Clip Competition hosted by the Canadian Association of Immersion Professionals (ACPI).

The competition invited French immersion students from grades 4 to 12 enrolled full-time in school in Canada to create a 30 to 90 second video clip on the theme: My French universe: how do you keep your French alive outside school?.

The clips created by these students testify to the vitality, creativity, and commitment of young people in French immersion programs across Canada.

The contest aims to:

  • Promote the learning of the French language in the context of immersion;
  • Encourage oral production among immersion learners;
  • Publicize and promote a positive vision of French immersion in Canada;
  • Encourage students' creativity through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT);
  • Encourage learners to pursue their studies in French at the post-secondary level;
  • Promote the offer of post-secondary programs in French.

Congratulations to Meha and Agam!

First-place winner, Meha Muralidharan, a Grade 9 student from Mr. Mackenzie's class at École Riverside Secondary in Port Coquitlam, received a $12,000 scholarship.
