What is StrongStart?

StrongStart provide rich learning environments designed for early learning development – language, physical, cognitive, social and emotional. Qualified early childhood educators lead learning activities where children find opportunities to make friends and interact with others of similar ages.

Participate with your young child (aged birth to five) in play-based early learning activities – including stories, music and art. At no cost to families, this early learning drop-in program helps prepare children for success in Kindergarten.

Commonly asked questions:

Can I register for more than one location?

Yes, you're welcome to try out various centres. Different centres are run by different facilitators and each person organizes the sessions differently.

What if I'm running late and do I have to stay for the whole session?

StrongStart is a drop-in program. You're welcome to come whenever you like and stay for the whole session or part of it.

Are you open everyday?

We follow the school calendar. We close on professional development days and holidays. Always check our calendar for updates about our closures.

Do I have to attend everyday?

You're welcome to come once a week or once a month. It's completely up to you and your family how often you'd like to drop-in.

Can grandparents/caregivers bring my child to StrongStart:

Yes, anyone can bring your child but the adult/guardian must remain with the child at all times.

Registration:

If you've never attended StrongStart feel free to drop into any of our locations and try out the program before registering. Once you've tried it out and wish to continue please follow the steps below:

Fill in the registration form: StrongStart Registration 2024.1.pdf
Attach it to your email along with 2 pieces of ID as indicated on the form
Include your child's name as the "subject"
Email the form to: strongstart@sd43.bc.ca

Once we've had a chance to review your email, we'll notify you we've received it and if we need anything further. If you have any questions please call 604-937-6381.

Environment: HYGIENE, CLEANING AND DISINFECTING StrongStart teachers will wash their hands frequently. A small snack will be distributed during each session. If you have dietary needs, please be prepared to provide your own snack. Access to washroom facilities is limited but not prohibited. Home facilities are recommended before coming to the StrongStart centre. Regular cleaning and disinfecting will be conducted for all high touch point areas and materials. We strive to offer playful, child-centred experiences for families to enjoy in safe ways. We look forward to seeing you!
