Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are again updating you regarding the neighborhood near our school called Anmore Green Estates which is experiencing issues with their septic field.
As we mentioned in previous updates, part of SD43 school property, a generally unused hillside on the northeast corner of the site, is downhill from the septic field and is of potential concern. As a precautionary measure the Ministry of Environment ordered Anmore Green Estates to erect safety fencing to keep all school and community members off their septic field and the surrounding slope.
SD43 is communicating with the Ministry of Environment and requesting they expedite a solution to this issue. In addition, we are also communicating with Anmore Green Estates, the Village of Anmore and the City of Port Moody.
An area of concern is the use by school and community members of a path through Anmore Green Estates property leading to the joint-use community field and we strongly urge everyone to avoid using that path and stay out of the fenced off areas.
The safety and well-being of our students and employees is paramount and we have directly communicated with them in school. But we ask that you also remind your children to avoid the path and fenced off areas and use sidewalks and main roads to travel to and from school.
We will continue to update students, parents and employees on this as more information is made available to us.
