Orientation Information for new students (Grades 10-12) to Charles Best

Any new grade 10, 11 or 12 students to Dr. Charles Best are asked to attend our new student orientation on Thursday, August 29^th at 12 p.m. Students are to report to the main foyer where they will be greeted by the admin team, receive their course schedule and participate in a school tour. Following the tour, the students will have an opportunity to ask any questions.

Grade 9 Orientation Information

We will be hosting our incoming Grade 9's on Thursday, August 29th! This will be a day for the students to re-orient themselves with the school, participate in activity stations and have their school photo taken. Incoming grade 9's are asked to arrive at 8:45 a.m. and pick-up their course schedule in the front courtyard. Admin and counsellors will be greeting students.

Events start at 9:00 a.m. Stay tuned - more information will be emailed out in August.

• Age 16 – Attended the University of Toronto to pursue medicine. Played professional basketball to finance his education.
• Age 19 – Served in the Canadian Army during WW1.
• Age 21 – Won a coin toss to become the assistant to Dr. Frederick Banting.
• Age 22 - Co-discovered insulin. They sold the patent to the University for $1 to ensure worldwide access.
• Age 23 – Dr. Banting share the Nobel Prize in Medicine with Dr. Best
• Age 28 – University Professor and President. Honored with numerous awards and distinctions.
