​​Established and funded by Perimeter Institute, this award is presented annually in memory of Luke Santi. Luke was a high school student who demonstrated a passion for research and discovery, earned top marks in his courses, took part in a variety of extracurricular activities, and volunteered his time in service of others.

In honour of Luke’s many accomplishments and contributions, the award is presented annually to a Canadian student who demonstrates Luke’s many qualities — academic performance, interest in science, extracurricular activities, and volunteering — and is graduating high school to begin post-secondary education in physical sciences at a Canadian university. 

The student is selected based on a combination of academic merit and non-academic criteria including:

  • ​Academic success in the last year of secondary studies - a minimum 80% average overall is required as shown in copies of official high school transcripts.
  • Demonstrated passion for physics outside of the normal academic environment (e.g. being a member of a local amateur astronomy club, volunteering with a physics association)
  • Demonstrated interest in a wide range of activities outside of physics (e.g. community involvement, sports, debating clubs, etc., including volunteer activities in service of others)
  • Minimum of two letters of recommendation by a teacher, principal, professor or association leader (not a relative). The letters of reference will assist the selection committee in establishing the applicant’s participation and achievement in the life and activities of their school and/or community; participation in a physics stream of study; nature of the participant’s character, personal qualities and temperament, etc.

The Italian Cultural Centre has established four Scholarships to be granted annually to four Grade 12 students residing in Metro Vancouver. One of the applicant’s parents must be of Italian heritage, and as well a member of the Italian Cultural Centre Society. The applicant will plan to attend a post-secondary institution where he or she must also be prepared to pursue Italian-language course work. Each scholarship is worth $500.00. Consideration will be given to both male and female applicants.

The completed application form, a letter of reference, and a copy of the most recent report card must be submitted to Edda Onesti, ICC Italian School Administrator by May 31. Prior to being awarded the scholarship money, the recipient must provide evidence of his or her enrolment in a post-secondary institution.

Criteria: MADD Canada’s Bursary Program is open to Canadian citizens who have themselves been severely injured or who have had a parent (or legal guardian) or sibling killed or severely injured as a result of an impaired driving crash and who are enrolled in a full-time, ministry-approved, post-secondary educational program. Injuries must be catastrophic or severe and have had a significant impact on the applicants’ lives. Proof of injury and relation to impaired driving will be required.

​​Tony Marzitelli served on the Board of Directors of the Italian Cultural Centre for 17 years until his unexpected passing in 2010. Tony Marzitelli was an avid sports fan, but also valued the importance of community involvement and post-secondary education.

In memory of Tony Marzitelli, the Marzitelli family has established an annual $500.00 scholarship fund to reward a worthy graduating student with an opportunity to assist in the pursuit of their academic dreams.

The Chief Joe Mathias BC Aboriginal Scholarship Fund was established to honour the memory of the late, great, Chief Joe Mathias, a hereditary and elected Chief of the Squamish Nation. He will long be remembered for his vision and tireless leadership for the rights of Indigenous People in BC and across Canada. Central to Chief Joe Mathias’s vision was his passionate belief in and advocacy for higher education for Indigenous People. The Chief Joe Mathias BC Aboriginal Scholarship was created to further this goal.

The Chief Joe Mathias Aboriginal Scholarship is one of the longest running and largest Indigenous scholarships in BC. With the generous support of private donors and the Province of BC, we have provided over 500 scholarships to students from almost every First Nation in BC.

In addition to The (Original) Scholarship, beginning in 2025, the Chief Joe Mathias BC Aboriginal Scholarship Fund is pleased to announce the addition of two new specialty scholarships:

  • The BC First Nations Teachers’ Scholarship, specifically for First Nation students pursuing a Bachelor of Education at a BC post-secondary institution that leads to a Certificate of Qualification to teach in K-12 schools; and
  • The Nursing Scholarship, specifically for First Nation students pursuing a career in nursing.

  2. You must be planning to enter the 1st year of a public, post-secondary education institution, full-time or part-time, in the coming year.*
  3. The university or college that you are planning on attending must be located in Canada.
  4. You must write and submit an original 750-to-1,000-word essay on this year’s essay topic for your scholarship.
  5. You must use the online application form to submit your essay.
  6. The contest results will be publicized on the social media and websites of NUPGE, its Components, and Component’s affiliates. So, you must agree to the publicity conditions.

Most NUPGE scholarships have additional requirements. See details on each scholarship below.

Please note, the Young Workers Scholarship is also open to members of NUPGE Components or a Component’s affiliates. Applicants for this scholarship do not have to be first year, but must be under the age of 35.

Application Guidelines

The Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation is pleased to offer the Post-Secondary Entrance and Transfer Scholarships to BC secondary students entering engineering or Earth science programs.

Six entrance scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, and one transfer scholarship, valued at $2,500, are awarded on the basis of a combination of factors including:

  • Academic standing;
  • Extracurricular activities;
  • Financial need; and
  • Responses to long-answer questions.

The entrance scholarship is for students entering a 4-year undergraduate engineering (B.A.Sc., B.Eng., or similar) or earth science (B.Sc. or similar) program.

The transfer scholarship is for students entering or currently enrolled in a engineering transfer program (engineering fundamentals, engineering certificate, or similar) with the intention of completing the remainder of an engineering degree at another institution.

The scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient's academic institution upon confirmation of registration.

Deadline

Completed applications and letters of reference must be received by June 30, 2025.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Graduating from a BC secondary school in 2025 and entering an engineering or geoscience (earth science, physical geography, or similar) program.
  • Currently enrolled in a engineering transfer program (if applicable).

Your eligibility for either the engineering or transfer scholarship will be determined based on the information in your application and confirmed with you prior to awarding the scholarship.

A student is only eligible for one Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation scholarship each academic year. If you are successful in more than one Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation scholarship competition, you will only receive the award with the highest value.

Transcripts Deadline

Upload your official or unofficial transcript in the academic section below. Your transcript must be complete and include all of your high school courses. Interim transcripts or school report cards will not be accepted.

Transcripts must be received by Engineers and Geoscientists BC on or before September 30, 2025 in order to be considered for this scholarship.

Academic Requirements

You will be evaluated based on your grades in the following courses, as indicated on your transcript. If one of the required courses is not listed on your transcript, you must explain which course was used in its place for post-secondary entrance. This explanation should accompany the official transcript submission.

What is the Elmer Helm Youth Fund?

Each year, the fund provides financial assistance to deserving students who wish to pursue or continue post-secondary training in the artistic, academic, or technical fields. It is the aim of the fund to make such education possible for students who may otherwise not have the financial means.

Up to eight Elmer Helm Youth Scholarships will be presented to participants, volunteers or staff of a BC neighbourhood house. Each recipient will receive $1,500.00 in late August.

Who is eligible?

The fund is open to young people who:

  • Are residents of BC,
  • Have been accepted into or continuing post-secondary training in an artistic, academic or technical field,
  • And have been significantly involved in a neighbourhood house, through program participation, volunteering, or as an employee.

The applicant should demonstrate a significant contribution to the life of their community to exemplify the neighbourhood house values of community service.

Students who receive this award are welcome to re-apply each year that they are registered in post-secondary training or education.  However, priority will not be given to past-recipients, and these applications will be reviewed alongside all applications received in a given year.

The Confratellanza Italo-Canadese was founded in 1904 and is committed to the preservation of Italian cultural heritage and contributing to the enrichment of the multicultural community in the Greater Vancouver area (for more information about us visit our web site at www.confratellanza.com This year we are offering several $1,000 scholarships to assist eligible students in their post-secondary studies:

 

The scholarships are open to this year's graduating secondary school students planning to enroll in a post-secondary educational institution for the first time in 2025.  To be eligible for this scholarship candidates must 1) be of Italian origin i.e. as having at least one parent or grandparent of direct Italian descent, 2) be living in a city or municipality within the 21-member Greater Vancouver Regional District, 3) have an academic standing sufficient to qualify for entry into the post-secondary institution of their choice, and 4) submit a completed application form with supporting documentation post-marked no later than June 15, 2025.

 

The scholarship winner will be determined by a selection committee appointed by the directors of the Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final.

 

The Confratellanza will pay the $1,000 scholarship directly to the winner.  This will be done upon presentation of an official receipt of registration and fee payment from the educational institution to which the winner has enrolled.

 

The winner will be required to provide his/her photograph and agree to allow it and a related news release to be circulated and publicized.  The winner or his/her representative will be required to attend, as a guest, the Confratellanza's Christopher Columbus banquet at the Italian Cultural Centre in October 2025.

 You’ll be asked to include the following information in your application:

  • Application: examples of how you have contributed to diversity awareness and acceptance in your community.

  • Reference letters: two letters of reference from individuals who can speak to the meaningful contributions you’ve made to your school and/or community as it relates to supporting and promoting diversity initiatives (Word or PDF format).

  • Transcript: a copy of your most recent transcript (Word or PDF format).

Please ensure all required documents are uploaded before submitting your application.
