The Spirit Triathlon is happening on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre in Port Coquitlam — and we’d love for you to join our volunteer team! This exciting event brings together 480 kids from grades 2 to 8 to swim, bike, and run — either on relay teams or as individuals. | | | Place des Arts | Coquitlam | | Yes | Summer Fun! Art Camp | July 7th – August 15th Our Summer Fun! Art Camp runs for six weeks, from July 7th to August 15th, 2025. Our camps offer a variety of visual and performing arts programs for children ages 5 to 12. Place des Arts is currently looking for responsible, caring and dedicated volunteers for the program. Shifts are daily (Monday – Friday) at Place des Arts. You can choose between: - Full–Day Shift: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, 7.5 hours (with a 30-minute break)
- Morning Shift: 8:30 AM – 12:45 PM, 4.25 hours
- Afternoon Shift: 11:45 AM – 4:00 PM, 4.25 hours
From our Summer Fun! Volunteers we require: - A minimum commitment of two weeks (Monday – Friday) between July 7th – August 15th; No classes on August 4th due to the Provincial Statutory holiday.
- Attendance at the mandatory Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, July 2nd, 4:30 – 6:30 PM, at Place des Arts.
- Being patient, caring, friendly, dependable, committed, responsible and adaptable
- Ability to relate to children
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions well
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and teachers
- Commitment to ensuring the safety and engagement of students during camp
- Experience working with children 5-12 years old (i.e. Babysitting, daycare, volunteering with elementary schools, day camps and other programs) is an asset.
Place des Arts is currently offering two opportunities to volunteers: Block volunteer & classroom assistant. Please see the duties below:
Block Volunteers: - Welcoming students each day
- Escorting students to and from the classroom
- Reinforcing Place des Arts' “FISH" policy: Follow Instructions, Include Everyone, Show Respect and Help each other
- Supervising students in the classroom, and during break times and transition
- Assist campers in the activity if they need additional assistance
- Other tasks as directed by PdA Staff/Teachers
Classroom Assistant: - Assist the teacher with set up and clean-up of the classroom
- Assist the teacher in distributing supplies or using tools
- Encourage students to listen & participate in activity
- Other tasks as directed by PdA Staff/Teachers
