Our Purpose: The Board of Education accepts its responsibility to provide a quality and equitable public education for the success of all learners, within the limits and resources available.

The School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Board of Education is comprised of elected members from the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. There are currently 9 elected trustees

Trustees are elected every four years at the same time as the mayors and city councils. More information regarding the upcoming October 17, 2026 election can be found here

Role and Responsibilities of Trustees

The School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Board of Education is made up of elected trustees who provide governance and oversight for the district. Trustees set strategic priorities, establish policies, approve the annual budget, and ensure accountability to students, families, and staff. They work collaboratively with students, families, employee groups, Indigenous communities, local governments, and community partners to support student success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting district goals and approving policies.
  • Approving and monitoring the district budget.
  • Supporting long-range planning for schools and facilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and governance requirements.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and representing the district in the community.
  • Advocating for resources that support student learning and well-being.
  • Promoting district programs, services, and achievements.

Through effective governance, trustees help ensure all students have access to high-quality learning opportunities and a supportive educational environment.
