Athletics
Get Involved!
At Aspenwood Elementary, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Our athletic programs provide students with opportunities to stay active, develop teamwork, build confidence, and represent our school community.
Our programs are made possible through the dedication and generosity of Aspenwood staff who volunteer their time to coach, organize, supervise, and support students throughout the year.
Fall Athletics
Volleyball (Grade 5)
Season: Late September – November
Grade 5 students participate in before-school practices and compete in games against other schools. The season includes home and away games, parent-supported transportation, and participation in a volleyball jamboree.
Winter Athletics
Basketball (Grade 5)
Season: January – March
Beginning shortly after Winter Break, students participate in before-school practices and compete in home and away games throughout the season. The program often concludes with a basketball jamboree.
Spring Athletics
Como Lake Relays (Grades 4 & 5)
Season: March – April
Students train before school to prepare for the 1.2 km Como Lake Relays race held in mid-April. All students are welcome and encouraged to work toward completing the course without stopping.
Track & Field (Grades 3–5)
Season: April – May
The season begins with Track Attack in early April and concludes with the District Track & Field Meet at Town Centre Park in late May. Students can participate in a wide variety of running, jumping, throwing, and relay events.
Thank You to Our Volunteers
Aspenwood's athletic programs would not be possible without the many teachers and staff members who volunteer their time before school, during school, after school, and at special events. We would also like to thank the parent volunteers who help transport students to away games and events throughout the year. Their support helps create meaningful opportunities for our students to participate, compete, and grow.
