β"In the spring the Salmon People return to their traditional spawning grounds. We greet the first salmon when it arrives. We prepare its body with the greatest care and respect. After eating the salmon, the bones are carefully returned to the water so that its spirit can return again. My net is typically woven from inner cedar bark and/or stinging nettle fibre. It is designed to let smaller salmon through. Bigger salmon bump into the net and find a way to swim around. The medium sized salmon get caught by their gills. After we have caught what we need, we open the net to let the salmon through to their spawning grounds and to feed the community upriver. Task: Use the spear I've given you to catch one salmon and then take it to the smokehouse. Be sure to thank the Salmon People for this miraculous gift."ββββ
