Vancouver International Children's Festival Granville IslandVancouver International Children's FestivalNo
The Vancouver International Children's Festival are pleased to announce that we are returning this spring with a live Festival, on Granville Island May 26–June 1, 2025. We would also like to introduce our new Volunteer Coordinator, Alayna, who will be taking over the Volunteer department for the 2025 Festival.

We wish to invite students to volunteer for the Children's Festival, thereby gaining valuable skills and experience while fulfilling their Work Experience curriculum requirements. Students interested in Hospitality, Tourism, Event Management, Arts, Performance, or Childhood Education are particularly encouraged to apply, but there are positions at every level. Volunteers can sign up starting on January 2nd on our website. We ask our volunteers for a minimum two-shift (14 hr) commitment.

We are especially interested in onboarding a few Key Volunteers right away, who can begin working within the school to recruit and screen more volunteers. There can only be 3 Key Volunteers per school. KVs generally work around 20 hrs in advance of the Festival, and then transition into Crew Captain roles onsite during the Festival. Serving as a KV and/or Crew Captain provides very strong leadership and communications experience, plus being creative and fun. Any Volunteer who completes over 30 hrs of service will receive a personal reference letter from the Festival.

If you are keen, outgoing, and well organized, and think you might be a strong candidate for a Key Volunteer position go to the childrensfestival.ca website for more info and to submit an application. Our Volunteer Coordinator will interview any KV candidates, and will arrange an online meeting for the first group of KV's in February.

Questions? Contact volunteer@childrensfestival.ca

This is an annual event that happens in May/June.

Anyone can volunteer!
JOIN US AND HELP ANIMALS IN NEED

Worldwide Vets works around the globe, to help animals in need. Every year we strive to reach more and more animals that desperately require support in association with local communities and charities. This is where you come in.

Some of our projects accept volunteers, giving you a chance to get hands on and make a real impact as part of your career break, studies or gap year. Some of our projects accept anyone regardless of their past training or experience. Some are reserved for veterinary and nursing students and graduates. This is your opportunity to give something back to the world and use your passion and skills to do something amazing whilst discovering a beautiful new country.

Projects range from domestic vet clinics serving poverty-stricken communities in Africa, Asia and the Americas, to wildlife vet teams at the front line of conservation. In the developing world you will gain a lot of clinical experience and help diagnose, treat and prevent a range of injuries and diseases that you may not see at home.

With 11 years’ experience running volunteer projects, we know what it takes to give you a life changing experience with a fun and encouraging team, in beautiful locations and with all the safety nets, insurance and cover you need when traveling abroad.

So weather you dig dogs, or love lions, welcome to our team!

  • Talking to the public at open houses or community events

Whatever your skills or experience, each one of us uses our work with the Society to give back, learn and experience more.  We learn from each other.  We try to develop skills and experience by taking responsibility for activities and events and can be guided by others that have more experience.  In some cases, we can even launch a new program based on members wanting to drive the creation of a program.
