Grade 9s ... don't forget to attend an orientation (for students only) on Aug 30. Come to the foyer, just inside the main entrance to the school, at 11am. Parents can drop off students along Poirier St or in our drop off/pick-up driveway between Poirier St and King Albert Ave. We should conclude by 12:15pm.
Welcome to Centennial Secondary School! Please circle Thursday, August 30th on your calendar as this will be the day we officially welcome Grade 9's to our school. We hope to make the transition from middle school to high school as seamless as possible. Our Centennial Leadership Team (Grade 11 and 12) students will be at this welcome session to assist with the morning activities.
School Supplies: There is not a formal list of supplies, as it is dependent on the classes that the students have each semester. The teachers will let the students know if there is anything specific that they need for their courses. Generally, students just need a few binders, pens and pencils and loose leaf paper for the binders. Slowly but surely we are starting to move to a 'bring your own device' model where students can bring their own laptop or tablet to school, but this is something that teachers may address specifically moving forward and isn't something that families need to purchase right away.
The orientation begins at 11:00 am. It will include the following:
- Welcoming assembly hosted by the Leadership Students & teachers Ms. Chambers/Mr. Rensen
- Welcome from the administrators Mr. Ciolfitto, Ms. Farnell, Mr. King and Ms. Zimmer
- Welcome from the school counsellors
- Tours of the school
- Timetable distribution
- Information about how to get involved at school
The orientation will conclude at approximately 12:15 pm.
If your child cannot attend the orientation, please call the school to let us know at 604-936-7205 or email the office at email@example.com. We hope you have had a relaxing, enjoyable summer and we look forward to seeing you in September.
