Why PMSS Has Clubs

Forming a club is more than organizing meetings or events. It is an opportunity to identify a need, create meaningful experiences, and leave a positive impact on the school community. Strong club leaders think about who will benefit from their club, what opportunities they will create for others, and how they will know they have made a difference.

Clubs provide opportunities for students to explore interests, develop new skills, build friendships, and take on leadership roles beyond the classroom. Whether students are passionate about chess, photography, programming, culture, environmental action, wellness, music, social justice, or community service, clubs create spaces where students can connect with others who share their interests and contribute to a positive school culture. 

At PMSS, we believe that strong clubs contribute to a strong community. While every club will have its own unique purpose, all clubs should consider how they help students connect with one another, understand and support others, and contribute to an inclusive and respectful school community. 

Understanding PMSS Values:  

  • Connection: creating belonging and relationships. Build connections across grades/programs of study. Encourage teamwork and collaboration.

  • Empathy: understanding and supporting others. Developing and raising awareness. 

  • Respect: valuing diverse perspectives and experiences. Creating inclusive environments and celebrating different cultures, identities and experiences.

  • Campaigns or outreach completed

  • Board Game Club and Chess Club build connection.

  • Health and Wellness Club and Red Cross Club promote empathy.

  • Chinese Culture Club, Korean Culture Club, GSA and Multicultural Food Tasting Club promote respect and understanding.

  • Adulting 101, Programming Club and Youth MD develop skills.
