Arts Umbrella - Architecture Summer Intensive
  • In collaboration with Urbanarium, the Summer Architecture Intensive helps students gain a deeper understanding of architecture, as they explore creative approaches to building spaces and discover new ways of seeing the built environment. In an immersive studio environment, they engage in research, critique, and making, drawing, and building models to highlight their ideas. A reception for family, friends, program partners, and donors is held at the end of the program to celebrate their experience.   • Healthcare Horizons: Career Exploration is a first-of-its-kind, fully online, healthcare career exploration course for BC high school students. Through guided self-assessment, exploration of five healthcare career clusters, and interactive learning activities, students develop career clarity alongside core competencies in patient-centered care, professionalism, communication, clinical safety, health information literacy, and healthcare technology, culminating in a personalized education and career action plan. Camp Byng Leadership in Training Program
  • Designed to help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain meaningful experience working with younger campers in an outdoor setting.
  • Participants in the program will also earn 40 volunteer hours, which can be applied toward school graduation requirements. The two-week program combines leadership development with hands-on experience. During the first week, participants focus on building leadership skills such as communication, teamwork, activity planning, and problem solving while taking part in classic camp experiences like archery, hiking, and team challenges.
  • During the second week, participants apply what they’ve learned by supporting camp staff and helping lead activities for younger campers, giving them real experience in mentorship, teamwork, and leadership.

Emily Carr University - Head Start in Art DUAL CREDITS

Emily Carr University of Art + Design, in partnership with School District 43 (Coquitlam), is proud to support the next generation of artists and designers as they begin their journey to post-secondary education. Through the Head Start in Art dual credit pathway, selected high school students will have the opportunity to take a first year university course at ECU. While in high school, students can earn both university credit toward an undergraduate degree and high school credit towards graduation, gaining early exposure to the creative learning environment at ECU.

For: Gr. 11 or 12 students considering post-secondary studies in visual art, media art or design. Students must have:

  • Eng 11 or 12 (minimum C)
  • 2 other Grade 11 or 12 academic courses
  • 2 Gr. 11 or 12 electives (Visual Art 11 or 12 recommended)
  • Overall GPA of 2.5 ("C+" or 67%)

  • The Leadership 12 students at Gleneagle is inviting all SD43 students to the Explore your Possibilities Career Discovery Event where their mission is to educate and inspire high school students about their future career through our career showcase. 
  • This event will put ~9 speakers under the spotlight from a diverse variety of career fields. Each speaker will prepare an approximately 10 minute presentation that highlights the important aspects of their career for students to find footing on their own path.
