Through its collection, programs and facilities, Port Moody Secondary School Library has the dual goal:
- to promote and support literacy and the love of reading.
- to promote and support the teaching of information literacy whereby students develop skills and attitudes necessary to access, evaluate and utilize information effectively and ethically in order to become independent lifelong learners.
The Library Learning Commons operates on an open flexible schedule. We are open through the school day, during Flex and Lunch, and whenever the doors are open*.
*The LLC closes at 2:00 on the first Monday of each month for our monthly staff meeting.
Students are welcome visit the Library Learning Commons to browse through out collection, work quietly on their assignments, use the internet, and/or read materials.
Teachers who have booked a section of the Library Learning Commons for whole class collaboration with the Teacher-Librarian have priority over drop-in visitors.
We promote productive use of the LLC space and resources by all users to enhance the teaching and learning of and by the school community.
