Through its collection, programs and facilities, Port Moody Secondary School Library has the dual goal:
- to promote and support literacy and the love of reading.
- to promote and support the teaching of information literacy whereby students
develop skills and attitudes necessary to access, evaluate and utilize information
effectively and ethically in order to become independent lifelong learners.

*Closed at 3:00 p.m. on staff meeting Mondays
- The library operates on an open flexible schedule.
- Students are welcome to come into the library to browse through our collections, work quietly on their homework, use the Internet for school-related assignments, and/or read materials during the posted times.
- Teachers who have booked a section of the library for whole classroom research have priority over student drop-ins.
Ms. Byrne Is the current Teacher Librarian for the fall term. Currently enrolled in the Teacher Librarian Diploma at UBC. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with specialization in Classical Studies and History as well as a bachelor of Education degree. She has been in the Coquitlam School District for over six years. Before this, she taught at a private EAL school in North Vancouver, in the public school district in Newfoundland and has also taught at Teddington School in England.
Mr. McMahon is a member of the library teaching staff as well as the English Department. Currently enrolled in the Teacher-Librarian Diploma through the University of British Columbia, he holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature and an English/History degree from Simon Fraser University. A teacher in the Coquitlam school district for over 15 years, he has taught at all levels, elementary, middle and high school. Mr. McMahon has taught internationally in Macau, China, before coming back to teach at Port Moody Secondary School in 2014. He is currently the Guildmaster of the PMSS Writers' Guild.
Miss Wildeman is the library assistant at Port Moody Secondary. She graduated from Langara College, Vancouver B.C in 2016 with a diploma in Library Technology & Information Services. Prior to becoming library assistant at Port Moody Secondary, she worked for the Delta School District. She has benefited from the experience of working in a variety of library environments during her training, specifically the Vancouver Art Gallery Library, where she completed her practicum and a wide variety of school libraries in the Delta School District.
