Where we went next...

Where we went next... Our Learning Beliefs

  1. Learning occurs when there is an emotional connection or relevance.
  2. Learning requires continuous and effective feedback that allows students to reflect, refine, and reapply new knowledge.
  3. Learning is both an individual and group process.
  4. Learners are diverse in their learning styles,  backgrounds, and abilities, and these differences should be reflected in the strategies and opportunities for learning in the classroom.
  5. Learning requires the connection of new knowledge and skills to past knowledge and skills.
  6. Learners require motivation, which may be fulfilled through choice in learning, encouragement, inspiration, appropriate challenge, and a learning environment that is safe and supportive of risk taking.
  7. Learning occurs at different rates.

Where we went next... Our Action Plan

  • We looked at structures within our school to begin the inclusive process of dialogue and action plans to develop the focus areas for each theme.  We utilized the staff meetings, department time, Curriculum Leader time, PAC parent groups, student groups, Pro-d, Learning Teams and School Committee groups.
  • Staff, students and parents have worked together on a variety of teams and committees to address the themes and focus groups.  We have come a long way.  Thanks to everyone for the volunteering their time and expertise to address the PMSS Common Purpose.
  • This is a five year process and we shall slowly work towards addressing each theme and focus group.  We have completed 3 years of the 5 year plan.  We still have work to do.
  • OUR ACTION PLAN MUST BE SUSTAINABLE!!!
  • We MUST see this as a long term plan.
  • The literature is clear…go slow, be considerate about the process, and be clear about our desired results.
