Learning about the responsible use of technology is taught directly in students' weekly library program with Mrs. Bancroft.
Glen Elementary grade 5 and 4/5 classes have 1 laptop for every 2 children to support research and writing in intermediate classes. In addition 8 classrooms have Smartboard technology. All classes have access to digital projectors and document cameras in their classroom or that can signed out from the library. Every teacher has a lap top to connect to these shared technologies. In addition to the desk top computer in each classroom some student lap tops and IPads are available to support students with identified learning needs.
Our current technology focus is to purchase more projectors so that we have a projector or smart board in every class. We also want to increase the number of lap tops and Ipads available to students with identified learning needs.
The district technology plan requires that all technology be replaced every 5 years. The district supports the replacement of teacher laptops annually by recycling 20% of the teacher laptops each year. Student and support staff technology is the sole responsibility of the school.
